Basic Sugar Cookie Recipe

An important part of preparing for the holidays, any holiday, is considering where to put your energy, and while gorgeous Christmas decorations adorn your home, your table can be as beautifully adorned with cut-out sugar cookies. A great use of your holiday energy, sugar cookie art is not only adorable, but it’s an opportunity to make fun family memories, and your cookies for Santa will be extra special!

My foray into all things Sugar Cookie Art began in 2012, when my family moved to a new community and I found myself with some time on my hands and a dial up computer. I had NEVER in my life been able to make an actual sugar cookie that didn’t fail, BOO! But, I was determined to succeed. And succeed I did.

Soon, friends started asking me to bake and decorate cookies for birthday parties, graduation events, Open Houses, and more. Word spread, and I found myself baking weekly, usually for a weekend delivery. Now, there are a lot of basic sugar cookie recipes out there, but this is one that I used frequently. (I have a to-die-for chocolate sugar cookie recipe that was another smash hit that I will share in another post later.)

My cookie adventure ran from 2012 to 2015, until we moved again, and I wasn’t able to continue baking and decorating for others, though I still enjoy making cookies for my family.
